Recent Email and Phishing Scams Directed at Corporations

Since the 1990s, the occurrence of email and phishing scams have been on the rise. Hackers use these emails to obtain personal information from their victims. In recent years, clientele of big name corporations have become the prey for these online intruders, prompting the need for updated email security systems.
Email Security- What is Phishing?
Phishing scams are emails sent by fraudulent individuals. The emails may claim to be from corporations you know and trust. The scam emails will usually contain messages stating that the corporation has been attempting to verify your account, but has been unable to. It will then advise you to click on the link provided in the email to verify your account information. Once these links are clicked on, you will be transferred to a website that appears to be legitimate, but is actually a fake site designed to look like the real company’s website. If you input your account details, the fraudulent individuals will be able to successfully steal your information and use it for their own purposes.
